Curcas Oil N.V., based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, has been established as a response to the ever-increasing demand for alternatives to fossil fuels. Curcas Oil N.V. is one of the leading producers for crude Jatropha oil. Through its subsidiaries Alternative Energy Manufacturing Ltd. (Thailand) and PT Pengembangan Jarak Indonesia, Curcas Oil N.V. cultivates Jatropha plants for the production of crude Jatropha oil in a sustainable manner.

The name „Curcas“ has been derived from the original name of Jatropha seedlings. Following the oil extraction of the Curcas seeds, the crude Jatropha oil (Curcas oil) is used for the production of bio fuel. An additional advantage of crude Curcas oil is the fact that it is a non-food oil and therefore a lucrative alternative for common fossil oil. Also, the cultivation of Jatropha plants and the subsequent production of crude Curcas oil do not interfere with land for food and causes no competition. The by-product, the Jatropha press cake, is also valuable as rich organic fertilizer or as fuel for co-firing in a combined heat and power plant.

Curcas Oil N.V. provides additional consulting services in regard to every aspect of Jatropha farming (Jatropha seedling, land, planning), the choice of machines for oil extraction and offers Joint Ventures.

Curcas Oil N.V. intends its IPO in Germany in Q4 2008, its subsidiary PT Pengembangan Jarak Indonesia plans its IPO in Jakarta for Q4 2009.
